"We are grateful for the generous support of Suffolk Federal, their visionary President & CEO Ralph Spencer, their caring and engaged Board of Directors and the dozens of Suffolk County Community College alumni employed at this leading not-for-profit financial institution," said Dr. Shaun L. McKay, President of Suffolk County Community College. "These scholarships will provide opportunities for Suffolk's promising students to follow their individual pathways to success. They celebrate the generosity of Suffolk Federal, the compassion of EMT Michael Reilly and the honor and sacrifice of LT Michael Murphy."

Applications must be completed online and submitted by April 26, 2019.

"These scholarships will transform the lives of Suffolk's hard-working students," Dr. Sylvia A. Diaz, Executive Director of the Suffolk Community College Foundation, relayed. "We look forward to growing our partnership with Suffolk Federal, an institution which shares our mission to build our community, support our local workforce and advance our regional economy."

Four scholarships of $5,000 each ($2,500 will be awarded to recipients in the fall of 2019 and $2,500 will be awarded to the recipients in the spring 2020) will be presented through the Suffolk Federal Scholarship, which is open to high-school seniors that are residents of Suffolk County who have a minimum GPA of 77.

The Michael E. Reilly Foundation Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Fire Science and Emergency Medical Technology (one scholarship of $5,000 - $2,500 will be awarded to the recipient in the fall of 2019 and $2,500 will be awarded to the recipient in the spring 2020) will be bestowed to a new full-time student. To be eligible, applicants must volunteer with the Suffolk County Fire Department or with a local EMS or be enrolled in a Fire Protection Technology to EMT Paramedic program at Suffolk County Community College in the fall of 2019.

"Education and knowledge provide the power which a student can use to accomplish great things in the world. We are excited to offer The Michael E. Reilly Scholarship to a deserving student in memory of our son Michael, who lost his life when home on leave from the Coast Guard," explained Edward J. Reilly, father of the late Michael E. Reilly and Treasurer at Suffolk Federal. "It is one way we can not only honor Michael's life, but support the leadership, accomplishments, passion and talents of our students, empowering them to achieve success."

The Navy SEAL LT Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship (a $10,000 scholarship - $5,000 will be awarded to the recipient during the 2019-2020 academic year and $5,000 will be awarded to the same recipient during the 2020-2021 academic year) will be awarded to a high school senior. $5,000 will be provided by the LT Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation and Suffolk Federal will match that. The scholarship is open to high-school seniors that reside in Suffolk County who have a minimum GPA of 77.

"The Navy SEAL LT Michael Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation is honored to partner with Suffolk Federal in awarding a scholarship to a deserving high school graduate who is a member of this wonderful banking institution," Daniel J. Murphy, father of the late Navy SEAL LT Michael P. Murphy and Suffolk Federal Supervisory Committee Member, noted. "Michael's favorite saying was 'Education will set you free' and this joint scholarship program with Suffolk Federal continues Michael's legacy of service and sacrifice. We feel that this scholarship is a perfect way to honor his passion."
