As summer starts to fade into fall, enjoy at least one more seasonal seafood fest and bonfire. On Saturday, September 8, Fighting Chance, a Sag Harbor-based free cancer counseling center, is hosting a Charity Clambake and Bonfire, sponsored by the East End brokers of Douglas Elliman, at Gurney’s.
“We depend entirely upon donations and money raised from events to support our operating costs, so a summer-end Clambake is an event we hope the community really will embrace,” Duncan Darrow, Fighting Chance Founder, reflected.
As attendees savor one of the last weekends of the season, they will enjoy typical clambake fare, followed by a beach bonfire. The Clambake will commence at 8 p.m., while the Bonfire will begin at 9:30 p.m.
“As a charity we try to be visible in the many different communities of the East End and, in the case of Montauk, we’ve established a presence with our float in the St. Patrick’s Day parade,” Darrow noted. “We’ve often held fundraisers at Duryea’s and now have a chance to partner with Gurney’s.”
Perry Duryea III will serve as the Fighting Chance Charity Clambake and Bonfire Honorary Chair.
“As a member of a family who has dealt with a cancer diagnosis, I know the importance of the work Fighting Chance does,” noted Carl Benincasa, Douglas Elliman Regional VP of Sales for the Hamptons. ” I’m so proud to see the agents of Douglas Elliman standing with this incredible organization.”
Founded in 2002, Fighting Chance is the nation’s oldest and largest free cancer counseling center that operates on a regional basis. Serving the Eastern End of Long Island, the 501c3 charity aids approximately 250 recently diagnosed patients on a yearly basis. Fighting Chance offers in-person counseling to help navigate the cancer journey at no cost.
Tickets to the Charity Clambake and Bonfire are $125 per person.
