UPDATE: Due to the impending storm, this event will take place on Sunday, August 5.
Have you spent weekend after weekend this summer playing in the sand working on unique, eye-catching creations?
Take advantage of all that mastery and join The Clamshell Foundation on Saturday August 4 at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett for the organization’s 27th annual Sandcastle Contest. Contestants will have from 9 a.m. to around 3 p.m. to create a masterpiece that will impress judges – who look for originality – so don’t be afraid to think outside of the box, texture and while it is a contest, the Foundation wants to see participants having fun.
“I hope that everyone comes and helps us enjoy one of our favorite days of the year – The 27th Annual Sandcastle Contest,” Clamshell Foundation CEO William Kalbacher explained. “We love seeing friends and families working together and having a wonderful day at the beach.”
The winners will be announced at 4 p.m. and top honors will be awarded in a variety of categories – for all ages and skill levels.
And, if your sandcastle skills are a little rusty, make sure to at least pop by and admire the entries because they are truly a marvelous sight.
There’s a $10 entry fee and there will also be limited edition 27th annual Sandcastle Contest t-shirts for sale. All proceeds from the event will support The Clamshell Foundation who reinvests its donations – giving back to the community through initiatives like scholarships for local students and other worthy causes.
Attendees will be able to park for free at Atlantic Avenue Beach, even if you don’t have a beach sticker.
