The Hampton Classic Horse Show
continues its tradition of giving back to the community through the third annual Jump for Charity event sponsored by Sea Shore Stables.
Developed by the Classic's own, the staff finds it important to give back to the area through various organizations. These efforts, complete with the generous support of Sea Shore Stables, allows for 100 percent of the profits from this event to go the winning charities.
All ten of the charities are directly connected to the equestrian community or the Hamptons community and are randomly paired with riders.
The 2018 teams are as follows: Georgina Bloomberg
& HEART Equine Ambulance, Daniel Bluman & Pal-O-Mine, Beezie Madden & SPAT (Suffolk Project Aquaculture Training) and initiative of Cornell Cooperative Extension, Callan Solem & CTREE
(Center for Therapeutic Riding of the East End), Adrienne Sternlicht & ReRun Thoroughbred Rescue, Shane Sweetnam & Group for the East End
, Jimmy Torano & Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue, Catherine Tyree & Equestrian Aid Foundation, McLain Ward
& Bridgehampton Childcare and Recreational Center, and Andrew Welles & East End Arts
"We are really looking forward to our third annual Jump for Charity as all of us at the Hampton Classic
feel very strongly about giving back to the community," said Shanette Cohen, Executive Director of the Hampton Classic. "We'd like to thank Sea Shore Stables for its continued support and sponsorship of this program as well as all the riders that will be competing for their paired charities. It will make for an even more exciting Friday afternoon event!"
The top three riders in the $75,000 Douglas Elliman
Grand Prix Qualifier CSI4* on Friday, August 31 at 2 p.m., win money for their assigned charity; $1,000 for third prize, $2,000 for second and all remaining funds to the highest placed rider. All other riders entered to compete in the qualifier will be allocated to a team on August 30 in a random drawing, allowing every rider to have the opportunity to win money for a charity.
A new addition this year includes an autograph session with the riders on Thursday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Friday, August 31 in the Grandstands after the event. Merchandise purchased at the Hampton Classic store and online may be signed. Hats are $50 each and are limited to 300. Each hat purchased also enters the drawing for a chance to walk the course with a Grand Prix rider before the Qualifier.
"It does add meaning to know that my win earned money for my designated charity," said Daniel Bluman after his victory in last year's Jump for Charity class, "but the truth is that no matter who won some charity was going to benefit. The one who really deserves the credit is the Hampton Classic for putting together a program like this."
The Hampton Classic Horse Show will take place August 26 through September 2.
The Hampton Classic Horse Show is located at 240 Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton.
