Southampton Hospital will be observing National HIV Testing Day on Tuesday, June 27 by uniting with partners, health departments, and other organizations to raise awareness about the importance of HIV testing and early diagnosis. HIV testing at Southampton Hospital’s David E. Rogers, MD Center will be offered for free and confidentially on this day.
“The CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care,” stated Michael Collins, Program Director of the David E. Rogers, MD Center. “About 1 in 7 people in the United States who have HIV don’t know they have it.”
The David E. Rogers, MD Center provides comprehensive medical, mental health and support services to adults living with HIV/AIDS. The Center assists with legal, housing, and other social service needs, and also provides confidential HIV testing, Hepatitis C treatment, and pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) care. The mission of The Center is to provide accessible, compassionate, comprehensive, state-of-the-art care to people living with HIV infection and to provide quality services in supportive atmosphere.
“HIV testing is crucial, and the David E. Rogers, MD Center is happy to provide this vital service to our community, free of charge,” added Collins.
Private insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and ADAP Plus are accepted at The Center. No one is denied care for lack of financial resources.
