On Saturday, May 20, leash up your pup and join Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) for Paws in the Park, a fundraising dog walk, at Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays.
“Saturday is going to be a blast,” shared Kate McEntee, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation Director of Adoptions.
The walk will consist of one mile trails and all are encouraged to attend for a family day of fun with your pets. In addition to the walk, the event will feature shopping, dancing, an adorable doggie fashion show, prizes, and goodie bags, as well as live music performed by a Hamptons’ favorite: New Life Crisis. Attendees may also bring lawn chairs and blankets for picnicking.
“For those not attending the dog walk – we are asking for a $10 donation to the shelter and you can enjoy the amazing band, vendors, Scotto’s food trucks and more!” noted McEntee. “It is all happening THIS Saturday at Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays!”
SASF launched Paws in the Park to help bring awareness to the growing number of animals that need our help. There is an overpopulation of pets on Long Island which leads to homelessness. SASF works to care for strays found wandering the streets or to save dogs from the horrors of the puppy mill industry. The shelter is a safe haven for animals and is often their last resort. Without SASF, the animals would not survive. By providing the animals housing, food, medical treatment, training, and rehabilitation, the animals are given a second chance.
“We have raised over $17,000 so far! Let’s keep going,” added McEntee. “You can still join a team or create your own team.”
Paws in the Park will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you can register as an individual or a team. Participants can create a personalized fundraising website and collect pledges from friends and family. Registration is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the walk. The Paws in the Park rain date is Sunday, May, 21.
