The Westhampton Free Library has achieved a five star status once again and is one of several libraries in Suffolk County to be awarded American Star designations from Library Journal, the oldest and most respected publication covering the library field. This is the eighth year in a row that Westhampton Free Library has received this honor and the fourth year in a row that the Library has received a five star status.
“We are very pleased to be named a star library once again,” said Library Director, Danielle Waskiewicz. “The staff, the Board of Trustees and the community work together to make Westhampton Free Library the exceptional library it is.”
Library Journal Star ratings are based on a library’s annual number of patron visits, circulation, program attendance, and public internet computer use. This data is reported yearly by public libraries to their state library agencies and compiled nationally by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Other local libraries to receive a five star status include Quogue Library, The Hampton Library in Bridgehampton, and Amagansett Free Library.
“It is an honor to be recognized as a star library,” added Waskiewicz.
The Westhampton Free Library is located at 7 Library Avenue in Westhampton Beach. For more information, call 631-288-3335 or visit westhamptonlibrary.net.
