On Tuesday, July 12th, Southampton Hospital celebrated the addition of two diagnostic services to the Hampton Atrium Radiology site in Hampton Bays. Thanks to funding from the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, all women can receive done densitometry and mammography with tomosynthesis. Both of these services are available at the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at the Southampton Hospital, but the addition to the Atrium in Hampton Bays increases access to women living west of the Shinnecock Canal.
Robert S. Chaloner, President and CEO of the Southampton Hospital, remarked, “Expanding Southampton Hospital’s Breast Center diagnostic services at our Hampton Atrium Radiology site provides easier access for patients living west of the Shinnecock Canal. We are most appreciative for the generosity of our long-time partner, The Ellen Hermanson Foundation, for its support of the East End’s only breast center for many years and has enabled the addition of these services.”
Julie Ratner, Founder of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony on July 12th. “It is just enormous to have this kind of state-of-the-art technology in our community. It is the belief of our Foundation that access to quality should be a human right,” she explained. “One of the reasons I think it is happening is because we work really hard to raise money and keep it in our community. It is really important to spread the word and let people know because there’s so many events that happen here in the summer, but the money leaves the community.” The new services are available because of the East End community’s continued support.
The Southampton Hospital Radiology at the Atrium is located in the Hampton Medical Atriyum at 182 West Montauk Highway, Building B, in Hampton Bays. To schedule an appointment at the Atrium, please call 631-723-1232. For more information, visit www.southamptonhospital.org.
