While Hanauma Bay Beach Park, which is located on the eastern end of Oahu, Hawaii, was named the top beach this year, according to Dr. Beach, the Hamptons still have something to brag about.
Coopers Beach in Southampton was named the 8th best beach of 2016. “Coopers Beach is located on the south shore of Long Island, New York, shielded from the cold Labrador currents, in the beautiful village of Southampton,” Dr. Beach noted on his website. “As the first ‘Gold Coast’ in the country, Coopers Beach is hundreds of yards wide, made of grainy white quartz sand.”
The East End’s unique backdrop and convenient amenities helped Coopers Beach earn its ranking. “The beach is backed by large sand dunes covered by American beach grass interspersed with large and extravagant mansions,” he reasoned. “Some of the best beach access in the Hamptons exists on Coopers Beach, and a snack bar serving lunch and drinks can be found here as well.”
Other honorees included Siesta Beach Sarasota, Florida (2), Kapalua Bay Beach, Maui, Hawaii (3), Ocracoke Lifeguarded Beach, Outer Banks of North Carolina (4), Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Massachusetts (5), Grayton Beach State Park Florida panhandle (6), Coronado Beach, San Diego, California (7), Caladesi Island State Park Dunedin/Clearwater, Florida (9), and Beachwalker Park Kiawah Island, South Carolina (10).
Hamptons.com is lucky enough to provide a live stream of Coopers Beach, so you can “visit” the beach even when you’re not in the area. To view the Beach Cam stream, visit hamptons.com.
