Coalition For Womens’ Cancers At Southampton Hospital Receives Multiple Grants

As the Coalition for Womens' Cancers at Southampton Hospital (CWC) continues to expand its East End reach and services, finding backing to fund those programs and offerings has become even more important. Luckily for CWC, which provides several programs in support of breast cancer patients and their families, they were recently chosen to receive a trio of grants, which will allow CWC to continue to assist patients recover and maintain normalcy during their fight against the disease.

"Southampton Hospital's Ellen Hermanson Breast Center provides exceptional breast health care through state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment, but the support we are able to provide is critically important to the recovery of our patients," shared Robert S. Chaloner, Hospital President and CEO.

CWC has been awarded A Pink Aid Long Island grant of $14,000 and a Komen Greater NYC Grant of $63,750. Both of which will go towards the Coalition's "Navigating to Survive and Thrive" and "Neighbors Helping Neighbors" programs, aiding uninsured and underinsured patients that resident on the East End, who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Services include transportation to and from treatment, financial assistance including prosthesis, wigs, lymphedema sleeves/therapy, grocery cards, child care, housing, utility bills and cleaning services.

The CWC also received $2,000 through the Town of Southampton Human Services grant program. That funding will be used to provide nutritional counseling for breast and gynecological cancer patients and survivors.

"We are particularly grateful for this funding because it will provide a wide range of support services that will benefit many women on the East End," added Chaloner.
