On Saturday, February 27th, Montauk will be transformed into a whimsical fairyland when Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation (MPCCF) partners with Neo-Political Cowgirls theater group (NPC) for ZIMA!, a cultural collaboration that will send attendees on a quest throughout the Village in search of clues during an interactive theatrical scavenger hunt for all ages.
“We’re so pleased to partner again with the Neo-Political Cowgirls to bring this fantastic, fun event to Montauk,” shared Maureen Rutkowski, project director of the Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation. “Collaborating with East End cultural groups to present great events and happenings like this, allows us to give the community a great taste of what’s to come — and what will be possible when the cultural and aquatic centers at the Playhouse are built.”
At 1 p.m., the first round of ZIMA! (which means winter in Polish) explorers will meet at the Montauk Village green gazebo, where they will receive a riddle that they must solve. To figure out the puzzle, attendees must decipher a collection of clues that will lead them to a series of staged vignettes throughout “The End.” Each stop will feature elaborately costumed actors, like fairies, an elfish sprite, and snow babies, who will act out the hints during brief theatrical performances. Once they’ve found their final tip, participants can head back to the Playhouse for refreshments and to see if they correctly answered the brain-teaser. New groups leave every 20 minutes and guests can crack the riddle at their own place.
The suggested donation to participate is $5 per person. Advanced reservations, which are not required, can be made in advance online.
