Beginnings

If you live in New York there's a pretty good chance you've heard the name Sportime. Recognized for their multiple facilities on Long Island and near NYC, Sportime boasts owning 144 state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor tennis courts along with many other gym and fitness facilities. When Sportime came to us with a request to build their web site we knew the web site had to reflect their prowess in fitness, and their powerful brand.

Goals

  1. The web site should be functional in terms of converting visitors into customers, and keeping customers up to date by presenting accurate class and schedule information
  2. The web site should be visually effective in communicating depth of sports programs to illustrate Sportime's position as a market leader.
  3. Sportime staff should be able to edit pictures, text, ads, and downloadable materials by themselves to minimize cost of maintanance and to keep the web site fresh.

1. Accurate Information

Managing Sportime's information was paramount on this project. With multiple locations, each containing both separate and overlapping program titles, we knew that the site's information would have to be well organized. The site navigation was designed to funnel visitors from the main sections to a final program list which would display location specific class information. This way visitors would quickly realize that these programs we're offered close to home. Heres how we did it.

2. Visual Appeal

Its no surprise that the viability of a company is often judged by the design and appeal of a web site. With such stakes at hand, the first impression must be impactful.

As it relates to Sportime, you will first notice the use of bold, vibrant colors on all pages to suggest an upbeat and active mood. Secondly you are drawn to large, high quality flash slideshows with sports and fitness images. These images drive home the fact that Sportime has a wide variety of sports and fitness activities to offer.

3. Content Management by Sportime Staff

Editing Text

Editing content and class descriptions is as easy as using Microsoft Word. With our WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor they can modify their own web site like a pro.

Editing Slideshows

A simple as finding the picture on your computer. Pictures can be added and replaced from all Flash slideshows.

We will be the first to tell you that building SportimeNY.com was no small feat. But after many hours spent designing and coding a web site that embodies our initial goals, we believe that Sportime.com became the visually appealing, information savy, and user-friendly site it is now.
