Save Sag Harbor Gallery Tour
Rebecca Cooper of The Gallery Sag Harbor (125 Main Street, Sag Harbor, 631-725-7707) and Tulla Booth of Tulla Booth Gallery (66 Main Street, Sag Harbor, 631-725-3100, www.tullaboothgallery.com) will host an art tour canvassing Sag Harbor on Saturday, June 27, followed by a silent auction to benefit Save Sag Harbor. The Art Walk provides a unique insider's guided tour to a wide array of exciting artworks, and will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., beginning at the landmark Windmill, across from Bay Street Theatre on the Wharf. The tour is offered free of charge. The Art Walk can be self-guided and attendees are welcome to join or depart the gallery tour at any point. Self-guided tour maps will be available at all participating galleries beforehand, and at the Art Walk's start location, the windmill in Sag Harbor. The Art Walk includes visits to the Tulla Booth Gallery, The Gallery in Sag Harbor, Gallery B, Canio's Bookstore and Gallery, Delaney Cooke Gallery, Grenning Gallery, Urban Zen, Kramoris Gallery, Gallery Merz, Sylvester & Co., and the Wintertree Gallery. The galleries range from dedicated-to-art only to an exciting mixture of contemporary art and contemporary home furnishings. Immediately following the Art Walk, Save Sag Harbor's silent art auction/Art Benefit will be held at Christy's Art Center, (3 Madison Street, Sag Harbor, 631-725-0534), from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with refreshments served. Mother Earth Exhibit At The LINDART Gallery
The Upcoming exhibit "Mother Earth" at LINDART Gallery (134 Edgewood Avenue, Bridgehampton, 631-537-3600) blends together the work of four internationally renown sculptors whose work represents the many moods, textures and elements of Mother Earth. From the sensual and organis cast bronze sculptures of
Linda Brunker, the rich forms and graceful shapes found in the bold marble sculptures of
Timothy Mark, the raw passion created in rich metals by artist
Franco Jr., and the superbly crafted sculpture of

Weekend Events At The Parrish Art Museum
The Parrish Art Museum (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, 631-283-2118) will be showing a
Jean Luc Mylayne exhibition, which opens Sunday, June 28. There will be a preview reception on Saturday, June 27, at 6 p.m., which is open to the general public (free for members, $7 for nonmembers). Jean Luc Mylayne, the artist's first solo American museum exhibition, brings together 22 large-scale color photographs of bluebirds, hummingbirds, juncos, and other species, all taken in West Texas from 2004 to 2007. Curated by Parrish Director
Terrie Sultan, the exhibition will be on view from June 28 through Sept. 20. As part of the exhibition preview on Saturday, June 27, Terrie Sultan will give an illustrated lecture about Mylayne's work at 6 p.m. in the Museum's concert hall. The artist and his wife and collaborator
Myléne Mylayne will be present to answer questions from the audience. A reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres will follow. Reservations are necessary to secure a seat at the lecture and may be made by calling 631-283-2118, ext. 49.

Brooks Hansen will read from his latest work, an historical novel, "John, the Baptizer" at 6 p.m. On Saturday, June 27 at 6 p.m.
Chris Knopf will read from "Hard Stop," his latest mystery set in the Hamptons. In narrating the epic of John's life, Hansen spins into whole cloth various traditions and inspirations - from the music of Bach to the paintings of Caravaggio, from history and theology to popular legend and Gnostic and other sectarian scriptures. Knopf's novel is the fourth in Knopf's popular mystery series that features detective Sam Acquillo. Sam holes up in an old family cottage overlooking Peconic Bay, hangs out in familiar watering-holes and a few fancier dining spots. Even while trying to keep a low profile, he gets caught up in the world of intrigue and high finance where deals have the potential to turn deadly.
Roundtable Forum: Landscape: Art-History-Preservation At Clinton Academy
On Tuesday, June 30, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a Roundtable Forum at the Clinton Academy (151 Main Street, East Hampton) on Landscape: Art - History - Preservation with
John Halsey, President of the Peconic Land Trust,
Richard Barons, East Hampton Historical Society Director, and artists
Casey Chalem Anderson,
Eileen Dawn Skretch, and photographer
Kathryn Szoka of Plein Air Peconic. The participants will discuss the interdependence of art, preservation, and history in shaping the East End landscape. The work of well-known Plein Air artists like
William Merritt Chase,
Thomas Moran, and
Sheridan Lord, will be discussed along with contemporary artists like
Jane Wilson and
Jane Freilicher. These artists, along with other Plein Air Peconic artists, have greatly influenced how we perceive our environment and as a consequence how we preserve, develop, and value it historically. A portion of the proceeds of Plein Air Peconic exhibition at Clinton Academy benefit the Peconic Land Trust. The show runs June 12 through July 6. The hours are Thursdays and Sundays, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and July 6, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A reception will be held Friday, July 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center Begins Its 2009 Season Of Lectures
On Sunday, June 28 at 5 p.m. at The Fireplace Project (851 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton, 631-324-4666) the Pollock-Krasner House will present a panel discussion, "Hedda Sterne: An Appreciation," in conjunction with the current exhibition, "Drawing Friends: Hedda Sterne Portraits on Paper," which is on view at the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center through July 25. Patterson Sims; the distinguished art critic and historian
Dore Ashton; and art historian

LongHouse Container Exhibition With P. Allen Smith
On Saturday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. the LongHouse Reserve (133 Hands Creek Road, East Hampton, 631-329-3568) will host Planters: ON & OFF the Ground - Second Invitational Exhibition. Top landscape designers, artists, designers and garden professionals will participate in the exhibition by creating a unique garden container to be judged by
P. Allen Smith, one of most recognized and respected garden experts. The containers will then be displayed at LongHouse Reserve. The installation will be on the plaza level in front of the Lear Memorial. LongHouse Reserve has traditionally exhibited works of critical acclaim; their intention now is to show planters as an art form integral to the idea of the garden perceived as art.
