When she married Martin, Jean Shafiroff embraced the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services, New York City's largest human services nonprofit, serving more than 43,000 New Yorkers of all faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds. Many charitable boards later, Jean and Martin Shafiroff co-chaired this year's annual spring gala, with Fran and Jack Levy, Lori and David Moore, Jill Rachesky, Steven F. Richman, Jim Spink, Beacon Health Options, Alice and Thomas Tisch, and Jean and Ray Troubh. The evening at the Plaza, which attracted more than 450 guests and raised $1.75 million, honored trustees Mark H. Rachesky, MD, and Jodi J. Schwartz, and longtime corporate partner Beacon Health Options.

In addition to all the honorees, those in attendance included Jill Rachesky, wife of honoree Mark H. Rachesky, MD, and their children, Kate Rachesky, Allison Rachesky, Samantha Rachesky and Steven Rachesky; Alice Tisch, president of the Board of Trustees of The Jewish Board, and her husband, Thomas Tisch; Jean Shafiroff, a trustee of The Jewish Board, and her husband, Martin Shafiroff; Lynn Kroll, a trustee of The Jewish Board, and her husband, Jules Kroll; Laurie Lindenbaum and Bob Thorne; Carol Levin, a trustee of The Jewish Board, and her husband, Jerry Levin; Jean Troubh, a trustee of The Jewish Board; David Everett, a trustee of The Jewish Board, and his wife, Karen Everett, and mother, Edith Everett; Lisa Silverstein, daughter of Larry Silverstein; Leslie May Blauner, a trustee of The Jewish Board; Abigail Rose Solomon; Susie Stern, Vice Chair of The Jewish Federations of North America, and her husband, Jeff Stern; Dr. Herminia Palacio, Deputy Mayor of Health and Human Services; Eric Goldstein, CEO of UJA-Federation of New York; and David Rivel, CEO of The Jewish Board.

For more than 140 years, the Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services (The Jewish Board) has been helping New Yorkers realize their potential and live as independently as possible, across the five boroughs and in Westchester. They promote resilience and recovery by addressing all aspects of an individual's life, including mental and physical health, family, employment and education.
