Parading in our pastel hats and summer dresses under the VIP tent at the Hampton Classic Horse Show Grand Prix, it seemed as though summer would never end. And yet, the next morning, we were escaping hurricane warnings and contemplating our Fashion Week wardrobes. For us, summer ends when the $300,000 Grand Prix prize, presented by Longines, is awarded (congrats to winner Richie Moloney (IRL) on Carrabis Z, owned by Equinimity, LLC) and the great hike — searching to remember where we parked — begins. Goodbye white jeans. Winter white is just around the corner.

But first, one last look at our favorite Hamptons afternoon and the people who love it. They included this year: Madonna, Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy, Kyle MacLachlan, Brooke Shields, Rosanna Scotto, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Ramona Singer, Brooke Shields, Chuck Scarborough and Ellen Scarborough, James Lipton, Gabby Karan and Donna Karan, Judy Gilbert and Rod Gilbert.

At the top of the food chain is always Michael Bloomberg and Diana Taylor, at their front and center table, intently watching his daughter Georgina compete. We watched Bloomberg speak at the Democratic Convention. Reacting to his line, "Let's elect a sane, competent person," the camera caught an animated Taylor, seated next to Vice President Biden. She looked beautiful and happy, we told her. "I was just so proud of him," she replied.

Also looking happy was Democratic Strategist and on air commentator Robert Zimmerman. Landslide victory? "It's gonna happen!" he predicted.

Broadway Producers Stewart F. Lane and wife Bonnie Comley, who launched Broadway HD, an internet delivery service for Broadway plays to large and small screens, were looking forward to making the Guinness Book of Records as the first ever company to stream a live Broadway show in New York, "She Loves Me." Next will be the musical comedy "YIYA," streamed live from Argentina, in Spanish with English Subtitles. Their 18-year-old daughter, Leah Lane has been in the Classic since she was a five-year-old in the Lead Line. This year, she participated in the three foot jumps.

Mom Bonnie Comley does it all, as they say, in heels, and, at the Classic, in a hat. She gets them, year after year, at Marders. "Shea Keating does their hats," Bonnie told us. "Each one is unique, and I recognized a lot of her one-of-a-kind creations today."
