Every winter, an eccentric collection of the Hamptons' finest gather at the Stephen Talkhouse
to grace the stage in the hopes of taking home the title of Mr. Amagansett and the prized clam rake "trophy" that's awarded to each winner. An amusing experience for all, the time to watch the pageant contestants strut their stuff and showoff their skits and charisma as they vie for the prestigious honor is once again nearing.
The Seventh Annual Mr. Amagansett Pageant will be held at the Stephen Talkhouse on Saturday, March 5th. The contest, which is open to all local community members (not just those that reside in Amagansett), will be judged by a highly qualified panel that will rate competitors on a variety of criteria like their smile and charm, originality, and talent.
And the 2016 Mr. Amagansett king will revel in his glory for all eternity. "It's like being the President of the United States, once you're the President, you're always the President," explained Nick Kraus
, Mr. Amagansett 2012. "Once you're Mr. Amagansett, you're always Mr. Amagansett."
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Donald T. Sharkey
Memorial Community Fund (www.donsharkeyfund.org
), which supports the East End by aiding local fire departments, assisting community members with medical bills, providing scholarship opportunities and summer camp experiences for local students, and supporting other non-profits.
Admission is $20 and doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Stephen Talkhouse is located at 161 Main Street in Amagansett. For more information, call 631-267-3117 or visit stephentalkhouse.com.
