Hamptons Scrabbleathon To Benefit Oliver Scholars Program

Nicole Barylski

"Hamptons-goers love Scrabble," noted David Allyn, Oliver Scholars CEO. "We think this will be a fun way to spend an afternoon and support a worthy cause."

On Saturday, August 29th, New York-based charity Oliver Scholars is capitalizing on that admiration for the beloved board game by hosting its first "Scrabble For Scholars" event.

Held at the East Hampton home of interior decorator Marshall Watson, attendees will compete for prizes as they try and come up with the night's highest scoring combinations. While the evening will definitely have a competitive spirit, cocktails will add a relaxed feeling to the game-playing.

Louisa and John Troubh, Arthur and Sharon Korsgaard-Kalita, Barbara Greene, Todd Michales, Noah and Susanna Schankler and Marshall Watson and his husband Paul Sparks will host the benefit.

Tickets are $100 and can be purchased by contacting Heidi Idrovo, the Development Associate for The Oliver Scholars Program, at 212-430-5980 x 1117.

Oliver Scholars prepares prepares extraordinary African-American and Latino students for success at top high schools and colleges. 32 percent of the program's graduates have gone on to attend Ivy League schools.
