Stirring Up History: Cooking on an Open Fire to Cast Iron Stove

Sunday, April 29, 2018

1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

In this hands-on adventure, participants will learn about the necessity of proper wood, what ingredients were available through these time periods and how open fire cooking transitioned to the hearth and ultimately the cast iron stove. You’ll take turn cooking over the open fire (outside) and on our homestead cast iron stove (inside) and also learn to use authentic cooking tools and equipment. Time honored recipes will be used and a communal meal shared upon the conclusion of this workshop!
