Many people know birds migrate south for the winter, but for many, Long Island’s ponds, bays, and ocean waters are the “south”. Crystal will help beginner birders of all ages identify loons, ducks, geese, grebes, & many other water birds by their field marks & behaviors such as diving, dabbling, or wading. If we are lucky, we may also get to see some wintering birds-of-prey, such as Peregrine Falcons, & Snowy & Short-eared Owls. Having a field guide to birds of eastern North America & binoculars will be very helpful. Please let us know if you need to borrow binos - supplies are limited.
