Amid an economic downturn for most charity events, he hosted his annual Art For Life event which raised over $1.5 million to benefit over 50 groups through Rush Philanthropic, an organization helmed by Simmons that brings art to disadvantaged urban youths.

Newly appointed Executive Director of the Parrish Art Museum, Sultan changed the face of the art institution by enhancing many of the programs, opening the doors, and creating a clear connection between the community and the museum's permanent collection with "East End Stories," a program that "explores the enduring presence of artists on the East End of Long Island."

Philanthropist, collector, activist who hosted two successful benefits, "Sunflowers After Hours" at his Southampton estate to benefit the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless, which he founded in 1992, and then the following weekend the "Bug Bash" to benefit the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths which fights to prevent deaths caused by hospital infections.

In bad economic times, the first thing to go is usually charitable donations, yet the volunteers at Southampton's Human Resources of the Hamptons were able to hand out over 3,000 gifts this holiday season, as well as food and clothing to needy families.

Land preservation efforts continued its full force this year as campaigns to preserve prime space on the East End is led by founder and President John Halsey. Halsey, a fixture at many town and village board meetings Halsey closely monitors the environment, is an expert on land preservation and clearly cares deeply about the future of the East End.

Events Organizer. This young, dynamic and talented events organizer is acknowledged for not only bringing great music and talent to The Stephen Talkhouse, but for his involvement with both Rock The Harbor and Rock The Farm, two annual Hamptons events that raise money for local charities. In addition, Kraus has helped raise thousands of dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that assists returning soldiers.

Artist, Organizer. For her tireless efforts to rally local artists, business owners, community leaders and Main Street loyalists to the cause of
Saving Sag Harbor from "big box" retailers that have wedged their way into the neighboring villages. Her work is aided by a cadre of like-minded neighbors turned activists and we applaud them all.

Both of these collective groups of young, new and talented artists are acknowledged for their respective association with local charities and for 'shaking things up' here on the East End art scene, and for producing not only innovative and interesting art for everyone to enjoy, but for their camaraderie and support of fellow artists and community organizations.
