Private Affairs

Clubs in the Hamptons are always hot but there are some great parties that happen throughout the day. Neptune's starts the party early every weekend and private parties help prepare us for nightclub hopping around town.

Lights, Camera, Action! Over the weekend Fox 5, CBS and NBC were all over the Hamptons interviewing vacationers, celebrities and locals on what is so great about the Hamptons during the summer. Why do hundreds of people flock here every year to party, relax and lay on the beach? There are plenty of other resort places around the country where people can choose to hang their hat but the Hamptons always appears to be the most popular. Sure people love New York City but accessibility to the beach is nothing like in the Hamptons.

If you saw one of the special reports that aired last weekend, you may have gotten a glimpse of Howard Stern and fiancé Beth Ostrosky and Noah Tepperberg enjoying the spotlight in the Hamptons. I stopped by a private party at Savannah's in Southampton for Beth Ostrosky. Her soon-to-be husband Howard Stern was there for support. There was a mob of people in the restaurant as I walked through the door. It wasn't difficult to spot the lovebirds as they both towered over the crowds. Cameramen had to hold their equipment at steep angles just to capture the duo. Reporters held the microphones high to get answers from Beth and her future with Howard. Champagne and mixed cocktails were served among a buzzing crowd networking and trying to familiarize themselves with the ins and outs of the Hamptons scene.

Noah Tepperberg, promoter and part owner of Tao New York and Las Vegas, held a private party in Southampton with catering done by Joe's Crab Shack. Joe's Crab Shack is based in New Orleans and they sure had some good ole down south cooking going on in the Hamptons. Their macaroni and cheese and potato salad were great! I washed it down with some plantation punch and topped it off with some basking in the sun by the pool.

While guests were mingling and enjoying the food, Fox 5 interviewed the crowd to find out what else was going on in the Hamptons this summer. Enthused guests, mostly from New York City appreciated a getaway so close to home. Exclusive parties in large extravagant homes are a good transition from many cramped apartments and parties in the city. I personally love being able to party in or outdoors in the Hamptons taking advantage of the scenery and great weather.

Neptune's is located on Dune Road in East Quogue, and is a great example of mixing in and outdoor partying. I stopped by Sunday afternoon to get a feel for the party on the beach. They were holding a private function commemorating the 13-year anniversary of the rebuilding of the club. Originally located across the street, the old Neptune's burnt down in the 1990s. The party invited old and new friends to celebrate and remember old times. A live band played in the background while I talked to Dave about the best nights at Neptune's. He invited me back on a Saturday to get a feel for the real deal. See you then!
