Opening Reception

The Suffolk County Historical Society will host a special opening reception for “Suffolk County’s Landmarks & Icons,” a photography exhibition, on Friday, November 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition consists of current works from a juried photography competition, juxtaposed with a sampling of historical photographs from the Society’s collection. All of the works on display depict Suffolk County’s landmarks and icons - both natural and man-made. Jeff Schamberry, director of photography at Newsday, served as the competition’s juror, the winners of which will be announced at the opening reception. The community is invited to this free event, to view the works on display, and to enjoy complimentary refreshments. Attendees may also view the Society’s new exhibit “Patriots Come Forward: Suffolk County’s Role in the Civil War.”
