Bridgehampton - On August 19, 2011 Fridays at Five will present Roger Rosenblatt who will discuss his latest book, "Unless It Moves the Human Heart: The Craft and Art of Writing." Sponsored by the Friends of the Hampton Library, this is last program in the series for 2011.
Rosenblatt is widely known for his essays, novels, memoirs and plays. The winner of numerous awards including two George Polk Awards, a Peabody and an Emmy Award, he has written essays for Time and "The News Hour with Jim Lehrer" on PBS. He is the author of 14 books including "The Children of War," the winner of the Robert F. Kennedy Book Prize and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. He is a Distinguished Professor of English and Writing at Stony Brook University and in 2009 he was one of three finalists for the Robert F. Cherry Award for Excellence in University Teaching. In "Unless It Moves The Human Heart: The Craft and Art Of Writing" he takes readers inside the classroom for a semester spent on the particulars of writing and answering the fundamental question: why write?
A Q&A session follows. The author will sign copies of his book.
The program takes place in the rear garden of the Hampton Library at 2478 Main Street in Bridgehampton.
Tickets are $15. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Sponsored by Friends of the Hampton Library, 631-537-0015.
