Southampton - The Metropolitan Museum of Art is home to works by some of the most renowned artists in the world. In "NYC ABC" many of these works are showcased in a whole new light. By matching each letter of the alphabet with paintings or other works of art depicting New York City scenes and subjects, "NYC ABC" opens up the world of art to children in a creative way.

The letter "B" is represented by several paintings of the Brooklyn Bridge, the letter "H" is represented by images of Harlem, the letter "W" showcases images of Wall Street, etc. - each letter reveals New York City through a variety of images.

More than 75 paintings, prints, textiles, postcards, and photographs show the City through the eyes of talented artists including Childe Hassam, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, Alfred Stieglitz, Fairfield Porter, and John Sloan.

This is a beautiful collection depicting the City that never sleeps, although stories prompted by some of the photographs will certainly be a great bedtime story for any child.

With an index by letter indicating what artist and who contributed to each letter, A-Z, this book is a wonderful learning tool, as well as a visual treat - children will certainly enjoy the vibrant colors and large photographs. The size of the book also makes it comfortable for little hands as well.

A delightful way to introduce not only NYC, but also the world famous Metropolitan Museum of Art to children - "NYC ABC" will visually engage children to ponder works held in the museum's collection, as well as scenes, landscapes, depictions and other visual stimulation many children, particularly in Manhattan, are familar with - this should be on every child's nightstand.
