East Hampton - The Jacobson Center for the Performing Arts, Ltd. Presents "Ruthless" a musical comedy with book and lyrics by Joan Paley, and music by Marvin Laird; directed by Eric Jacobson. The production will star Joan Lyons, Melissa Monterosso, Karen Peele-Hochstedler, Velaine Pfund, and Sue Vinski at Guild Hall, 158 Main Street in East Hampton.

Performances will be held on Sunday, November 1 at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 4 at 8 p.m., Thursday, November 5 at 8 p.m., Friday, November 6 at 8 p.m., and Saturday, November 7 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Group tickets for 10 or more are $10 a seat, (reservation only).

Local restaurants in East Hampton will be providing a special price fix to theatre goers holding a ticket for "Ruthless." Specific restaurants can be found at website at www.jacobsoncenter.org.

"Ruthless" will performed on multiple dates in October and November.

"Ruthless" is about a third-grader who would literally kill for a part in the school play, the split-personality mother and conniving grandmother. A merry melodrama of inherited theatrical talent and unchained ambition reaching from the school play to Broadway. Poking fun at 1960s movies like "All About Eve," "Mommy Dearest," "Village of the Damned" and "Gypsy."

The Jacobson Center for the Performing Arts produced "Ruthless" last winter at Bay Street Theatre with critical acclaim and audiences demanded it be revived. The board members decided to bring it back to life, but as a special benefit performance to help raise money for the classes that the JCPA offers.

The JCPA is a non-for-profit organization offering classes in acting, singing, ballet, jazz, tap, Fosse, Hip hop, belly dancing and sketch comedy for ages eight to adult. All teachers are industry professionals from NYC and teach at a Broadway level.

Hayground School’s Creative Orchestra Residency With Composer Bruce Wolosoff

Wed March 24
The Hayground School has begun the Creative Orchestra Residency with composer Bruce Wolosoff. The Creative Orchestra Residency, initiated by Wolosoff, was created by Hayground as one of the various ways to bring music into the classrooms and programs. Growing out of the Creative Orchestra's ongoing exploration of what stimulates musical ideas and inspiration, this season the members of the ensemble are composing music in response to short silent films. Most of the material is drawn from the early Gaumont classics from the turn of the last century as well as some of the more abstract experimental films from the Cinema Pur period of the 20s by filmmakers such as Man Ray. At the close of the residency, the Hayground Creative Orchestra will perform their scores live along with the films that inspired them at the Bay Street Theatre on Wednesday March 24th at 6:00 p.m.
