Bridgehampton - The Hampton Ballet Theatre School (HBTS), will premiere its new spring ballet production of "The Littlest Mermaid" on Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 18 at 3 p.m. and Sunday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at Guild Hall's newly-renovated John Drew Theater, 158 Main Street, East Hampton. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12 years of age. Box seats and group rates are also available.
The ballet was conceived by
Sara Jo Strickland, Graylen Gatewood and Grover Gatewood, and choreographed by Strickland, who is also the director of HBTS.
The performance will include beautiful costumes hand-sewn and designed by
Yuka Silvera, and will, of course, feature the students of the Hampton Ballet Theatre School.
The ballet is based upon the original Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" and will be danced to a vivid orchestral score by
Alan Menken.
Located in a kingdom under the sea, mermaid princesses, sea horses, sharks, a merwitch and all types of wondrous sea creatures will bring Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale alive.
Children from age three on up to adults will delight in watching the students of the Hampton Ballet Theatre School as they inspire dreams of adventures under the sea.
