If your love life is in the gutter at the moment, laugh it off during the latest All Star Comedy Show, presented in partnership with Joseph Vecsey, at Bay Street in Sag Harbor.
The eve after Valentine’s Day (Friday, February 15), Vecsey, who is featured in Optimum’s UnMovers, will hand over the hosting duties to Ruperto Vanderpool – who tours with Tracy Morgan. This time, headliners will include Casey Balsham, Ken Krantz, and Marc Theobald.
Comedy has always been a part of Vanderpool’s life. “Funny things always happened in my house being that there were eight of us,” the comedian, who made his TV debut on It’s Showtime at the Apollo, notes in his bio. Vanderpool has appeared on BET’s Comic View, and Galavision’s Que Locos! and was selected to perform at the Latino Laugh Festival in San Antonio, Texas. He also writes for the online animated series, La Familia, which can be viewed on the new website iCaramba.com.
“It’s Valentine’s Day weekend and the All Star Comedy Show is perfect for couples who wanna laugh harder and realize they’re meant for each other or break up,” Vecsey noted. “Either way, it will be a great night!”
“I’m just having fun,” Balsham’s website says about the comedian’s performance style. Initially based in Los Angeles, she relocated to New York “to really dig in.” Balsham has appeared on Lifetime, NuVo TVs Stand Up and Deliver, Arise 360 news, TIDALs No Small Talk Series, was featured on Gotham Comedy Live, twice, has performed at festivals in North Carolina, Austin, Atlanta, New York Comedy, and Maine, and was named a finalist at The Big Sky Comedy Festival in Montana. Balsham co-hosted the AVN affiliated Go Fuck Yourself awards in Las Vegas, and brought her dad as a guest, which of course was a comical occurrence. She also co-produces a popular monthly show at New York Comedy Club and starred in HA! The Musical, an off Broadway musical that revolved around stand up comedy, which sold out every show in its first two runs.
Krantz’s comedy career commenced in 2009 and he quickly became a Tri-State comedy scene regular. He’s graced the stages at many of the area’s notable clubs including Gotham, The Stand, The Stress Factory, Stand Up NY and The Comedy Shoppe, and has his own monthly show, Funny Faces, at Gotham Comedy Club. Krantz is a contributing writer for A-List comedy, which supplies topical jokes to nationwide radio shows. In 2016, he released his debut stand up album, No Punchline Required.
Theobald also tours with Tracy Morgan and was recruited to write for Morgan’s last two comedy specials, Bona Fide on Comedy Central and Staying Alive on Netflix, as well as Morgan’s TBS series, The Last O.G. He has appeared on B.E.T’s Comic View, Showtime at the Apollo, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, Chappelle’s Show, Last Comic Standing, and Comics Unleashed. On the big screen, he’s made cameos in Thistle and Snap, Destiny, Motive, and Spiderman 2.
The All Star Comedy Show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $30 when purchased in advance and $40 when purchased on the day of the event.
