"The Telling Project is a special event where seven local veterans and military family members will share their stories of service and sacrifice during free and open to the public performances," explained Melissa Mundy, a consultant of the Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Fund.

This November, the Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Fund is bringing The Telling Project, a national performing arts non-profit, to Long Island for four unforgettable evenings. The East End tour will feature David Clark, Frank Kestler, JoAnn Lyles, Chris Stone, Katherine Mitchell, Patrick Donohue, and Bob Ratcliffe.

"I am so grateful to the Telling Project participants," shared Mundy. "I have been part of this process from the beginning, through interviews, scripting, and rehearsals."

Founded in 2008, The Telling Project has produced 27 original performances in 16 states across the U.S. More than 150 veterans and their family members have participated in the productions, offering featured speakers a cathartic opportunity to voice their experiences. The East End productions were written by Max Raynerd, directed by Alex Mallory, and produced in partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

"Every time they share their stories -- about Vietnam, Beirut, Iraq, Afghanistan, about their sons, about their brothers in arms -- it takes my breath away," said Mundy. "These performances are a special event not to be missed."

The Telling Project can be seen on Saturday, November 7th at 7 p.m. at the Perlman Music Campus (73 Shore Road, Shelter Island Heights), Sunday, November 8th at 4 p.m. at the Southampton Cultural Center (25 Pond Lane, Southampton), Thursday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m. at Bay Street Theater (1 Bay Street, Sag Harbor) and Sunday, November 22nd at 4 p.m. at Suffolk County Community College (1001 Crooked Hill Road, Brentwood).

The events are free and open to the public, but space is limited.
