"Centered on seventeen dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line, the musical is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theater during an audition for a musical," noted Michael Disher, Director of the Southampton Cultural Center (SCC) adaptation. "A Chorus Line provides a glimpse into the personalities of the performers and the choreographer as they describe the personal and compelling events that have shaped their lives and their decisions to become dancers."

Starting Thursday, March 5th through Sunday, March 22nd, Southampton Cultural Center is bringing Michael Bennett's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play to Center Stage. "A Chorus Line" features music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban and is based on the book by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante.

After multiple workshops and an Off-Broadway production, "A Chorus Line" opened at the Shubert Theatre during the summer of 1975. The original musical ran for 6,137 performances, and was the longest running production in Broadway history at the time. It received 12 Tony Award nominations and took home nine, and also won the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
