"I am thrilled to announce the full summer Mainstage season at Bay Street," Artistic Director Scott Schwartz
said. "These three works are portraits of America, explorations of our need for social and financial success. They are stories about how love factors into this need, and struggles with it. They are visions of different eras in our country, but all speak to today through the times in which they're set."
The season will begin with the world premiere of Alena Smith
's new comedy, "The New Sincerity," directed by Bob Balaban
. The production, which will run from Tuesday, May 26th through Sunday, June 14th, paints a picture of a young journalist, Rose Spencer, who finds herself in a love triangle, forced to consider politics, love and personal success in her every move.
The summer programming will continue with Jerry Sterner's "Other People's Money." Jason Alexander
will star in the Lonny Price
directed drama, which will run from Tuesday, June 23rd through Sunday, July 26th. Set in the Reagan days of 1987, businessman Lawrence Garfinkle faces conflict in his latest venture as he works against Kate Sullivan, a smart and stunning lawyer.
