Studio 3 in Bridgehampton is updating the traditional holiday ballet show by creating a mash up of seasonal favorites including "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Nutcracker." "Mixed Nuts" at Bay Street will feature local children showcasing a variety of styles including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, and acrobatics.

"Mixed Nuts is Studio 3's original version of The Nutcracker," noted Meredith Shumway, who along with Diane Shumway, Thomas Gallo, Liam Gifkins and Jenna Mazanowski wrote and choreographed the show.

The story begins with a Christmas Eve gathering hosted by Cindy Lou Who. Friends and family of the famous Dr. Seuss character are gathering to embellish the stunning Who Christmas tree and even the mayor of Whoville stops by the soiree to bring gifts for Cindy Lou and her sister. After falling asleep at midnight, Cindy Lou is awakened by The Grinch, who is stealing the Who's gifts, including her coveted nutcracker. The Nutcracker magically comes to life and halts The Grinch's evil plan. Once Christmas is saved, The Nutcracker brings Cindy Lou to the Land of Sweets. After seeing the adoration and good will in the Land of Sweets, The wounded Grinch is forever altered as his heart grows 3 sizes. The whimsical performance culminates with a festive Christmas feast.

Cindy Lou will be played by Brooke Bierfriend, 12, of Sag Harbor, who attended The Kirov Academy of Ballet in D.C and The Bolshoi Ballet during the summer of 2014. The show will also feature five dancers from Studio 3's graduating class of 2015, some of whom have been with the Bridgehampton Studio since its debut in 2005.
