The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is calling all interested seniors to participate in their Nancy & Frederick DeMatteis Arts Education Program, Melodies & Memories. This ten week original performing arts program is designed to foster creativity in adults ages 65 and up.
Under the direction of teaching artists Valerie DiLorenzo and Jenna Mate, the thespians will practice music, theatre and story telling. Seniors will also have the opportunity to create their own stories and scenes to complement songs from the Golden Age of American cinema.
During the workshop, participants will meet from 9:30 a.m. till 12 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 16, 2014, and will work towards perfecting their public performance on Sunday, November 23, 2014.
Now in its fifth year, this semester, themed “Hooray for Hollywood,” is designed to benefit both new and returning participants. Based on prior assessments, participating seniors have continuously improved in both their physical and mental health, and under the direction of DiLorenzo and Mate, the PAC hopes this year will be no different.
Melodies & Memories is $100 per person.
