An enchanting trip to the Land of the Sweets may sounds like it’s in the realm of the impossible, but during the holidays it is much closer than you think. Here are four opportunities to see The Nutcracker in the Hamptons.
The Conservatory of Ballet and Dance Arts will perform The Nutcracker at The Southampton High School (141 Narrow Lane, Southampton, 631-591-4602), on Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 7, at 5 p.m., and Sunday, December 8, at 2 p.m. The shows will be dedicated to Kevin Cancellieri, and partial proceeds will go towards starting a dance scholarship in his name. ‘Mixed Nuts,’ will perform a Nutcracker adaptation featuring a variation of Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tango, Acrobatics and Lyrical dance at Bay Street Theatre (1 Bay Street, Sag Harbor, 631-725-9500, www.baystreet.org). Performances are Friday, December 13, through Sunday, December 15, at 7:00 pm with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
The Hampton Ballet Theatre School presents their fifth annual production of The Nutcracker on Friday, December 13, at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 14, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater (158 Main Street, East Hampton, 631-324-0806, www.guildhall.org).
The Nancy & Frederick DeMatteis Arts Education Program will join ballet professionals in Dancecore Ballet’s adaptation of The Nutcracker “Sweet” Ballet at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach, 631-288-1500, whbpac.org) on Saturday, December 14, at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m.
