Award-winning writer, director and producer Tina Andrews is bringing her provocative new play “Buckingham” to the Hamptons. Center Stage Theater at the Southampton Cultural Center will hold seven performances of the play which Andrews will direct. “Buckingham” dramatizes the aristocratic intrigue, ethnic scandal, and family dysfunction in the life of Queen Charlotte Sophia who was forced to hide her Moorish features and skin tone under heavy white Elizabethan make-up before her arranged marriage to “mad” King George III.
Andrews’ novel “Charlotte Sophia: Myths, Madness and the Moor” will be available for purchase and the first 100 tickets to “Buckingham” sold through Southampton Cultural Center’s website will receive a signed copy.
