Although certainly not a bad place to be, you might have been stuck in the Hamptons and missed Carnival in Rio de Janeiro this year. Have no fear...Brazilian dance is here! The Staller Center for the Performing Arts at Stony Brook University is presenting on its Main Stage the world renowned dance company Dance Brazil on April 6 at 8:00 p.m.

Dance Brazil is an ensemble of ten athletic dancers who enthrall audiences with their unique fusion of Afro-Brazilian music, contemporary dance and capoeira, a uniquely Brazilian form combining martial arts and dance that inspires their moves. Artistic Director and choreographer Jelon Vieira will premiere his piece "Fe do Sertao." Also on the program is "Banguela," a mesmerizing capoeira dance from 2010.

Dance Brazil's high-powered fusion of Afro-Brazilian movement and modern dance brings both energy and grace to the Staller Center stage. One of Artistic Director Jelon Vieira's works, "Dance Like a Fight - Fight Like A Dance," crystallizes the company's style in its title.

Tickets for Dance Brazil are $34, available by calling the Staller Center Box Office at (631) 632-ARTS or online at the link below. The Staller Center Box Office at Stony Brook University is open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday.
