Westhampton Beach - The WHBPAC's Nancy and Frederick DeMatteis Arts Education Program is thrilled to announce that registration is now open for its extensive 2012 spring session of classes. The program continues to offer some of the most innovative performing arts training for all ages and skill levels in a nurturing, positive and safe learning environment, throughout the year. The program's professional Teaching Artists bring both their talents and their strengths as educators to classrooms of youngsters to stimulate imaginations and creativity!
Acting Up: Fairytales, Folktales And Fantasy
Classes in Puppetry and Acting for Children Five through Seven
Tuesdays, through May 22, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Using familiar fairytales, folktales and fantastical stories, participants will tell, share and present new, old and original versions of tall tales. Young actors will gain an understanding of the story form as well as hone performance skills in this interactive, literary class.

Adventures In Acting: Character Creation
Classes in Acting for Children Eight through 11
Tuesdays, through May 22, 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Locked inside each actor is a host of unique characters just waiting to come out in class and on stage! This class will explore all of the qualities that make each character unique, from accents to eccentric behaviors to movement.

Classes in Music for Children Five Through Seven
Thursdays, through May 24, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Learn about traditional songs and dances from countries around the world - broadening our musical horizons.
Cabaret Kids: Company Songs And Scenes
Singing Classes for Children Eight through 11
Wednesdays, through May 23, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Come together as an ensemble in this class devoted to singing as a company, using show-stopping chorus numbers from Broadway hits.
From its earliest days, an essential component of the WHBPAC's mission has been to ensure that the arts play an important role in the lives of both children and adults in our communities. WHBPAC Arts Education Programs currently provide a distinctive and comprehensive array of offerings for children and their families year-round. Participation in the performing arts can unleash creative energy, help a youngster to find his or her unique voice, reinforce valuable life skills and support the development of an appreciation and lifelong love for the arts.
