Southampton - Center Stage at the Southampton Cultural Center's summer musical is
Studs Terkel's Tony-nominated "Working" playing through July 31 on the stage of The Levitas Center for the Arts at the Cultural Center. Based on the best-selling book of interviews with American workers, the dynamic yet down-to-earth musical explores the American workday from the Monday morning blues to a working person's pride in having "something to point to" and uses original words from the "uncommon" common men and women Terkel spoke with. Adapted by
Stephen Schwartz and
Nina Faso, it includes songs by
Mary Rodgers and
James Taylor, among others.
Showtimes are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. in the Southampton Cultural Center, 25 Pond Lane, across from Agawam Park in Southampton Village. Ringside seats and group, senior and student rates are available. Reservations are encouraged by calling Southampton Cultural Center at 631-287-4377 or find the full schedule and buy tickets online.
