Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 65th Annual Tony Awards on Sunday, June 12, 2011 live from the Beacon Theatre. The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards, founded by the American Theatre Wing in 1947, are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry.
The evening included performances by the 2011 Tony-nominated Best Musicals, "Anything Goes" featuring
Sutton Foster; "Catch Me If You Can" with
Norbert Leo Butz and
Aaron Tveit; "How to Suceed in Business Without Really Trying" featuring
Daniel Radcliffe and
John Larroquette; "Sister Act" featuring
Patina Miller; "The Book of Mormon" featuring
Andrew Rannells and "The Scottsboro Boys" featuring
Joshua Henry.
Additionally, casts from some of Broadway's hottest tickets, took to the stage, including the cast of "
Priscilla Queen of the Desert" featuring
Nick Adams,
Tony Sheldon, and
Will Swenson, "Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark" featuring
Reeve Carney and
Jennifer Damiano;
John Leguizamo's "Ghetto Klown;" the 2010 Tony Award Winning Musical "Memphis" and special appearances by
Paul Shaffer and the legendary
Martha Wash.
