Kate Winslet,
Glenn Close,
Meryl Streep,
Jane Fonda,

"During these unprecedented economic times where family violence has surged to historical levels, The Retreat is honored to produce such a powerful play that will bring awareness to the problem of domestic violence. This play gets people to focus on women's issues and to leave them with a new understanding and a greater respect for the struggle. The Retreat is extremely grateful to be able to bring this production to the residents of the East End," said
Jeffrey Friedman, Executive Director of The Retreat.
V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation and sexual slavery. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of "The Vagina Monologues" to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own community. In 2011, V-Day will celebrate its 13th anniversary.
