The HIFF Congratulates Oscar Nominees Who Participated In Festival

"Up in the Air" nominated for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. (Studio)

East Hampton - The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is happy to announce that films shown at this past October's festival received a total of 17 Oscar nominations. Following last year's Awards success of 15 nominations, this year's increase to 17 nominations includes a number of high profile awards contenders. The total of 17 nominations garnered this year are the largest the festival has received throughout its 17 years.

In one year the Festival has become a relevant player in the academy race. "We are so happy to see that the Academy recognize these films," stated Director of Programming David Nugent. "We continue to strive to bring the best films possible to our audiences in the Hamptons and are additionally proud of the fact that a number of these films (HIFF Audience Award Winner "The Young Victoria," HIFF Closing Night Film "The Imaginariumo Dr. Parassus, "Ajami") had their first ever screenings in America at the Hampton International Film Festival."
