On Sunday, April 17th, the Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival (HT2FF) is screening a series of animal focused films during a special "Spring Docs Day" at Bay Street Theater.

"Spring Docs Day celebrates the joy of spring and all living things, spotlighting our most beloved companions, be they cats, dogs, birds or horses," said HT2FF founder and executive director Jacqui Lofaro.

The viewings will begin at 1 p.m. with a spotlight on hilarious cat charm during "The Internet Cat Video Festival." Last summer, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis hosted its incredibly popular program for "feline fanatics," which attracted 13,000 people. So HT2FF decided to bring the Festival to the Hamptons with an all new collection of videos that were curated by Will Braden, the creator of the "Henri Le Chat Noir" series.

At 3 p.m., Darcy Dennett's "The Champions" will screen. The films follows the astonishing journey of the brave group of people who rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted the pit bulls from NFL quarterback Michael Vick's violent dog-fighting ring, despite pressure from PETA and The Humane Society to just euthanize the dogs.

The final documentary, "The Messenger," starts at 5:30 p.m. Directed by Su Rynard, the film pays homage to the exquisiteness and significance of endangered song birds such as orioles, swallows, tanagers, thrashers, warblers and several others from around the world.

Along with the documentaries, HT2FF is presenting a silent auction from 12 to 7 p.m. in the theater lobby. The auction will feature a plethora of animal-related items, such as gifts from local merchants, gift certificates to East End businesses and restaurants, tickets to the Hampton Classic Horse Show, and more.

Eastern Long Island Audubon Society, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, South Fork Natural History Museum, the Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt, and Tracie Hotchner, pet wellness advocate, NPR pet radio host, and founder of the Dog Film Festival, are co-presenting Hamptons Take 2 Documentary Film Festival's "Spring Docs Day."

Tickets are $10 per film for children under 12, $15 per film for adults, $13 per film for seniors, or $35 for an all-day pass.

Bay Street Theater is located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor. For more information, call 631-237-8055 or visit www.ht2ff.com.
