WHBPAC To Screen Academy Award Nominated Shorts Over Oscar Weekend

This year's highly competitive Academy Awards race for short films include "Aya," "Boogaloo and Graham," "Butter Lamp" or "La Lampe au Beurre de Yak," "Parvaneh," and "The Phone Call." You can see all five films back to back during a special viewing at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC). The short films will screen on Saturday, February 21st at 4 p.m., and again at 7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, February 22nd at 4 p.m.

Sarah Adler and Ulrich Thomsen star in Oded Binnun and Mihal Brezis' "Aya." While waiting at an airport, a young woman experiences a random encounter with an arriving passenger.

Aaron Lynch, Riley Hamilton, and Martin McCann star in Michael Lennox and Ronan Blaney's "Boogaloo and Graham." Jamesy and Malachy are ecstatic when their soft-hearted father gives them two baby chicks to take care, but the brothers are in for a surprise when their parents announce that big changes are on the horizon.

Genden Punstock stars in Hu Wei and Julien Féret's "Butter Lamp" ("La Lampe au Beurre de Yak"). A photographer and his assistant document the villagers living in a remote Tibetan village.

Nissa Kashani stars in Talkhon Hamzavi and Stefan Eichenberger's "Parvaneh." When Parvaneh, an Afghan teenager living in a refugee center in Switzerland, encounters issues wiring money to her family, she asks a young Swiss woman for help.

Sally Hawkins and Jim Broadbent star in Mat Kirkby and James Lucas' "The Phone Call." When Heather, who works in a helpline call center, receives a phone call from a mystery man, she has no idea that the interaction will change her life forever.
