, will host the first Summer Family Film Festival from Friday, August 22, through Sunday, August 24, 2014. Both feature length and short family-friendly films will be broadcasted, including DreamWorks Animation
's "How to Train Your Dragon II," and Charlie Chaplin
silent short films with live piano accompaniment on opening night.
"Having expanded into Southampton a decade ago with our annual festival in October, we are delighted to partner with the Southampton Arts Center for a second summer and on our inaugural HIFF Summer Family Film Festival," Executive Director Anne Chaisson
said. "We look forward to showcasing our exciting line-up of screenings from everyone's favorite, The Tramp to haunted houses, Disney
's finest and an all girl punk band that will inspire the filmmakers of tomorrow."
Other noteworthy films include Disneynature's "Bears," silent film shorts "The Adventurer" and "The Rink" and short films, "The Missing Scarf" and "The Pink Helmet Posse." The program also includes a weeklong student filmmaking workshop from Monday, August 18, through Friday, August 22, at the Southampton Arts Center. During the week students will study screenwriting, directing, acting, producing, and editing with industry professionals.
