On Saturday, June 20th, at 6 p.m., the Parrish Art Museum and Mortified NYC are co-presenting the first Hamptons performance of the long-running, live storytelling event, Mortified.

The curated stage show features participants who divulge childhood writings, art, and/or media before a public audience. The session at the Parrish will include four seasoned performers from Mortified NYC, as well as a few special guests, Andrea Grover, Century Arts Foundation Curator of Special Projects at the Parrish, and Amy Kirwin, Visitor Services and Museum Programs Manager at the Parrish. Hamptons-based DJ Twilo will spin classic tunes throughout the evening to augment the retro feeling of the event.

"There are a million stories buried in the pages of people's lives. Our mission is to help people find them," Mortified organizers noted. They describe the project as "a comic excavation of the strange and extraordinary things we created as kids." Former presenters have spoken about a variety of topics from their past, like their first kiss, first puff, worst prom, fights with mom, life at Bible camp, and reasons why they deserved to marry Jon Bon Jovi.

Neil Katcher and David Nadelberg created Mortified in 2002, after they found an undelivered teenage love letter. The blast from the past had the duo wondering would anyone else be open to share embarrassing childhood moments on stage, so they emailed a few friends to find out. The email went viral and resulted in a nationwide response. More than a decade later, what started with a single communication turned into a movement that includes a plethora of participants, from advertising executives to attorneys to actors, who all want to be a part of the show.

Currently, there are U.S. chapters of Mortified in Austin, Boston, Chicago, DC/Baltimore, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, and the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as international chapters in Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Malmo, and Paris. Mortified NYC holds performances once a month at Littlefield, a performance and art space in Brooklyn. The critically acclaimed documentary, "Mortified Nation," is available on Netflix.

Tickets are $10, which includes museum admission. Admission for museum members is free of charge. Advance reservations are recommended.

Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Watermill. For more information, call 631-283-2118 or visit www.parrishart.org. For more information about Mortified, visit www.getmortified.com.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
