Over 2,000 young artists from 40 East End schools will have their work featured in the Parrish Art Museum's annual Student Exhibition, which will run from Saturday, January 31st through Sunday, March 1st. This 60-year tradition will include nearly 300 works by local students from regional schools as well as a collaborative piece, "1960s TV Dinner," led by artists-in-residence Steven and William Ladd, and completed with the help of nearly 1,100 Long Island students.

"Each year, the Parrish looks forward to the enthusiasm for art making and the creativity expressed in the Student Exhibition. That energy is amplified this year by the Ladd brothers' residency," Museum Director Terrie Sultan said. "These students walked away with a new sense of what they can do and who they can be, just by working with artists who tell them that they can."

Featured students from the North Fork to Brookhaven and the Hamptons have demonstrated outstanding creativity through working with art teachers and art clubs and together represent a diverse understanding of various forms of art.

"Viewing and participating in the exhibition is a transformative experience - adults see the world through children's eyes, art educators are stimulated by their colleagues' ideas, and children feel deep pride in seeing the work on view," Museum Education Director Cara Conklin-Wingfield said.

The show will include artists of all ages, with group projects from various elementary and middle schools and individual works from students at local high schools. The Student Exhibition will debut with a Young Artists Reception on Saturday, January 31st from 2 to 4 p.m., featuring a screening of the Ladd brothers' Scrollathon documentary as well as a discussion with Steven and William Ladd, refreshments, and roaming performers. A High School Artists' Reception will follow on Saturday, February 7th from 3 to 5 p.m. The afternoon will also feature a screening of the documentary, discussion with William and Steven Ladd, and music.

Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For more information, call 631-283-2118 or visit parrishart.org.
