The Southampton Historical Museum is asking East End locals to keep a journal and write at least two sentences every day for a year as part of their “Journaling Project.” Apart from connecting with their community on new levels, participants will have the opportunity to contribute their work to an exhibit, have their journal entered into the Museum’s Archives, and participate in a share-a-thon.
The program, which was inspired by historic Southampton resident James Harvey’s 1831 journal, is open to all residents in the Town of Southampton who sign up by or before Wednesday, December 31, 2014. The project will run from Thursday, January 1st to Thursday, December 31, 2015. The “Journaling Project” will culminate with the opening of exhibit in the spring and summer of 2016 at the Rogers Mansion.
Southampton Historical Museum is located at 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton. For more information, call 631-283-2494 or visit www.southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.
