The museum at Guild Hall will hold an opening reception on June 28, 2014, for the launch of a limited edition art jewelry line from K Ritt Jewelry and artist Arlene Slavin. Jewelry designer Kim Rittberg partnered with Arlene to create a one-of-a-kind hand made jewelry line inspired by, and using materials from, Arlene’s sculpture Intersections, which has recently been installed at Guild Hall.
“We have taken some key elements from my large scale painting and sculpture: the asymmetrical X form, translucent color overlays, using them to create quirky necklaces, pendants and earrings,” Arlene said. The special collection features painted vinyl necklaces, earrings, and the “X Necklace,” which combine design, color and style to mimic that of the sculpture.
“I’ve always maintained that my jewelry is wearable art with a sculptural element, and the human body is part of that. I’ve long been an admirer of Slavin’s work, and I’m honored to work with her. She uses color brilliantly, and I love her integration of vinyl and the manner in which it makes nature appear in a different transmuted form,” Kim said.
With bright colors and interesting designs, this jewelry line is sure to be a popular Hamptons trend this summer!
