Southampton - The
Parrish Art Museum has announced some upcoming events:
Fridays At Noon Program To Focus On Porter
Alicia Longwell, the Parrish Art Museum's Lewis B. and
Dorothy Cullman Chief Curator, Art and Education, will present a lunchtime program in connection with work by
Fairfield Porter.
The Porter talks, to be presented during the run of Fairfield Porter: Raw - The Creative Process of an American Master, will begin May 14 with "Dribs, Drabs, and Splotches," a look at the animated surfaces of Porter's paintings. On May 21 there will be a screening of
Rudy Burckhardt's madcap film "A Day in the Life of a Cleaning Lady," which stars
Anne and Fairfield Porter at their chaotic South Main Street house. "Porter and de Kooning" will be the subject of the final talk on May 28. "The painters had more in common than you think," notes Longwell.
Fridays at Noon programs are free with Museum admission. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch; the Museum will provide beverages and dessert.
Annual Parrish Party Celebrates Spring
Spring Fling, the Parrish Art Museum's annual community party and fund raiser, will take place Saturday, April 17, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. This year's celebration will feature a live band by
Todd Barrie Music, delectable hors d'oeuvres from Sant Ambroeus, specialty drinks, fine wines, and artisanal ales from an open bar, and a silent auction of luxury items, including designer accessories and a fine selection of merchandise and services from the Hamptons community.
In addition, the Museum will raffle two dinner tickets to its festive July Midsummer Party, a $2,000 value. Raffle tickets are $50 and can be purchased by phone, at the event, or online. It is not necessary to buy tickets to Spring Fling or be present at the event to enter the raffle.
Tickets for Spring Fling, which is being co-chaired by
Susan Davis and
Nancy Hardy, are $100 for Museum members, and $150 for non-members. Patron tickets are $175 and Young Professional tickets (for those under age 30 with ID) are $85. All tickets are $175 at the door.
The Museum's programs are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. A portion of the Family Programs is made possible, in part, with the generous support of H. Peter Haveles and the Town of Southampton.
