The right teacher can shape the life of a student and greatly alter the course of their life. The Grammy Foundation and The Recording Academy have partnered to honor noteworthy music professors with the Music Educator Award.
Kent Knappenberger of Westfield Academy and Central School in Westfield, N.Y., was awarded the first annual Music Educator Award, and the organizations are currently accepting entries for the prestigious new tribute.
“Music teachers make miracles happen for their students, and every artist who ascends the Grammy stage, was touched by an educator,” noted the Grammy Foundation.
Anyone who has been touched by an exceptional Hamptons music teacher can recommend them for consideration. Nominations can come from a student, parent, school dean or administrator, friend, community member, or colleague. The contest is open to U.S. educators in K through college, and the Award will be given out at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony in 2015, the night before the Grammy Awards.
