East Hampton - Guild Hall celebrated the Richard Prince Exhibition with its annual Summer Gala and Art Auction on Friday, August 12, 2011. This year's gala honored Martha Stewart.

At the art exhibition Stewart relayed that "I am very happy to receive such an honor. I've had a home in the Hamptons for 20 years. Although I'm not here now, I do wish I could have more homes here. This is a very exciting evening."

The Exhibition Preview was held at Guild Hall Museum followed by cocktails and a tented dinner at the historic Gardiner Estate. Alec Baldwin acted as the evening's Master of Ceremonies, and following dinner there was dancing to DJ Alexandra Richards, (daughter of Patti Hansen and Keith Richards) who is as charming and lovely as she is talented, and who revealed "This is a fun night and I'll get them all up dancing."

The Live Auction was conducted by auctioneer Simon de Pury, Chairman, Phillips de Pury & Company and featured a select group of important artworks by prominent contemporary artists Eric Fischl, Bryan Hunt, Barbara Kruger, and Clifford Ross. The auction also featured two very special, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for commissioned portraits by renowned photographers William Wegman and Andres Serrano.

Guild Hall was packed with well-wishers for Stewart and viewers of the works of Prince which is derived from printed mass media. This show reveals Prince's interpretation added to photographs of Jackson Pollock, and displays "vintage, anonymous pornographic centerfolds over Pollock's image." Prince, who is a part-time resident in East Hampton was the recipient of the 2009 Guild Hall Lifetime Achievement Award in the Visual Arts.

Guild Hall once again hosted a fantastic evening of exciting art, and guests enjoyed themselves tremendously.
